Amazing opportunity to teach a special ed classroom at the Denman Middle School in San Francisco.

We're looking for a teacher for the SOAR classroom, which is a special day classroom for kids with disabilities that impact their social, emotional, behavioral and academic functioning.

These kids need a strong, nurturing, and consistent teacher with buckets of patience and a passion for improving the lives of the kids who are having a challenging time at school and with social interactions. If you've worked with these kids before, you know it's tough work, but also incredibly fulfilling to see their successes.

The salary schedules are listed below. Salary starts at $69,525and goes up to $131,654 . Plus medical, dental, and vision.

The school is Denman Middle School, located in Sunnyside/Ingleside, with Ocean Ave running through and home to City College. It's a walking-friendly neighborhood with lots of shops and grocery stores. The Balboa Bart station is three blocks from the school, which means that it's quick access to most parts of San Francisco, East Bay, and South.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Passion for special education
• Located in the U.S. (no international applications please)

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

• Special education experience in a middle school Special Day Classroom setting. 
• Experience working with kids with social emotional challenges
• Ability to develop and maintain clear classroom routines, interventions, and supports to ensure predictability and consistent reinforcement of kids goals.
• Organized and great with the paperwork required to keep IEPs up to date

A teaching credential is fantastic. However, if you are committed to teaching special ed and have a bachelor's degree, that can work too! The district can make an exemption to the credential requirement for you - as long as you're committed to pursuing the credentialing program.
