Job Description

**Schwarze Industries** (an Alamo Group company) is currently accepting applications to fill a **Purchasing Manager** position at its facility in Huntsville, AL. Schwarze's Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the supply chain from sourcing through delivery of products to facilities. This includes a focus on achieving order fulfillment targets, lean inventory management, and active cost cutting efforts to maximize margins. Establishes and maintains supply sources providing purchases at minimum costs without sacrificing quality, allowing for long-term continuity. **The Purchasing Manager will:** 1. Responsible for the management of all suppliers, which includes routine audits/reviews, negotiations, compliance, and quality control. 2. Evaluate and monitor supplier performance and contract compliance to determine necessity for amendments and/or suitability of extension, which may require coordination with Alamo Group Supply Chain. 3. Work with Design Engineering and Product Management to ensure alternate suppliers/materials are sourced in a timely and cost-effective manner without sacrificing quality. 4. Create, sustain, and update supply chain processes to maximize efficiency and performance. 5. Lead activities to maintain purchased part item setups in ERP/MRP to ensure accurate costing, supplier pricing, lead times, and other data driving MRP accuracy. 6. Support the ECR/ECN process to ensure accurate costing of purchase parts through sourcing and provides strategic scheduling/planning advice for material changes implemented in the production schedule. 7. Work closely and strategically with Alamo Group Supply Chain on Corporate and Group purchasing initiatives. 8. Work with OPEX team to continuously improve efficiencies on the production line related to consumables, on time delivery, and supplier quality. 9. Work with Sales Operations on long term forecasting in order to optimize material planning. 10. Be accountable for optimizing inventory levels, turns, and on time delivery to production. **The ideal candidate will have/be:** 1. Knowledge of available sources of purchased components such as truck chassis, industrial engines, hydraulic components, and metals for fabrication. 2. Experience with high complexity, low flow production and products a plus. 3. Knowledge of ERP/MPR systems, pertinent programs and data retrieval. 4. Analytical and evaluation skills to review historical data, indices and market trends. 5. Strong knowledge of MRP systems with JD Edwards background a plus. 6. Knowledge of ISO procedures and auditing practices. 7. Able to coordinate and plan various activities and prioritize own work, and/or work of subordinates. 8. Knowledge and understanding of production fabrication, welding, paint, mechanical assembly, warehouse, and related processes. 9. Experience with developing programs to address issues involving productivity, cost improvements, and quality. 10. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills both verbally and written. 11. Good team building skills; able to problem solve, persuade, and motivate. 12. Knowledge and practical application of Lean manufacturing techniques. 13. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and a strong practitioner of building a safety culture. 14. Self-driven with strong collaborative skills. 15.
