Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist with Certified Payroll experience to join our team. This role is responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll for employees, including salaried, hourly, and laborers.
  • Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (WH-347 or equivalent) in accordance with the Davis-Bacon Act , state prevailing wage laws, and project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including timesheets, wage rates, benefits, and deductions.
  • Verify timekeeping records and reconciling discrepancies in payroll data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and labor laws.
  • Collaborate with HR and project managers to gather information related to labor classifications and job codes.
  • Respond to internal and external audits by providing requested payroll documentation and reports.
  • Keep up to date with changes in wage determinations, certified payroll regulations, and labor compliance requirements.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of prevailing wage classifications in payroll systems.
  • Generate reports for management and project compliance purposes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience , with at least 1 year of certified payroll processing .
  • Strong knowledge of Davis-Bacon Act , state prevailing wage laws , and certified payroll reporting requirements .
  • Proficiency with payroll software
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Daforce/Ceridian experience
  • Experience in construction, government contracting, or public works sector.
  • Knowledge of prevailing rate payroll processing and fringe benefit reporting.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus.
