POSITION SUMMARY:

Focus Interpreting is seeking a committed American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our team in Indio, CA. This role is vital in ensuring effective communication between the deaf and hearing communities across diverse settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide high-quality ASL interpretation services in contexts such as educational institutions, healthcare environments, social services, and public events.
• Effectively interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa, maintaining clarity and cultural relevance throughout the process.
• Adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality requirements in all interpretation assignments.
• Build rapport with clients to understand their specific communication preferences and needs.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance interpreting skills and familiarize yourself with industry trends.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong command of English.
• Preferred certification or degree from a recognized ASL interpreting program.
• Understanding of Deaf culture and awareness of community dynamics.
• Experience in diverse interpreting environments is an advantage.
• Capacity to perform well under pressure while delivering effective interpretations.
