Job Description:
AltaTV is seeking a Screenwriter/Producer to join the Vertical Short Drama screenwriter team. You will be researching and studying vertical short dramas to understand the genres, tropes, and story patterns that resonate with audiences, while remaining intuitive and passionate to explore fresh ideas and push the boundaries of the format. You will play a key role in the creation of vertical short dramas from concept to completion. You’ll be responsible for generating innovative ideas, writing compelling scripts, and collaborating with our production team to bring those ideas to life. You’ll need to be highly creative, self-motivated, and ready to take charge of the creative process while also thriving in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research vertical short dramas to identify the genres, tropes, and story structures that resonate with audiences.
• Bring creative intuition and passion to explore bold ideas and push the boundaries of the vertical format.
• Develop and pitch original concepts for vertical short drama series and episodes.
• Write compelling, emotionally driven scripts tailored for vertical short drama productions.
• Collaborate with directors, actors, and production teams to ensure seamless execution of the creative vision.
• Adapt scripts and creative elements of vertical short dramas from China or Korea for the U.S. market, ensuring cultural relevance, natural dialogue, and audience engagement.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a screenwriter in the vertical shorts, Asian drama, or the entertainment industry.
• Strong portfolio, preferably in vertical short dramas.
• Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills.
• Familiarity with vertical short drama production.
• Passion for the vertical short drama industry.
• If lacking vertical format experience, a strong understanding of Korean dramas is required.
• Creative thinker with a track record of developing original ideas.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
