Job Description

A mission-driven, non-profit legal services organization is seeking a dedicated Florida Bar-licensed attorney to join its Family and Victim Advocacy Unit . This is a temp-to-perm position, starting on a temporary basis and expected to convert to permanent employment after approximately three months.

The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of experience in marital and family law , including matters such as dissolution of marriage, child support, paternity, guardianship advocacy, and injunctions for protection. Experience working with victims of domestic violence - including survivors of sexual violence, stalking, dating violence, repeat violence, and cyberstalking - is highly desired. Familiarity with trauma-informed practice and the ability to assist clients experiencing crisis is essential.

This position may also involve holistic representation of victims of violence in related legal areas such as housing, consumer rights, and employment.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Conduct applicant intake and client interviews.
  • Provide advice and counsel to individuals seeking legal assistance.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and injunction proceedings.
  • Comply with applicable grant reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Supervise support staff as needed.
  • Participate in meetings with funders and community leaders.
  • Support outreach initiatives and legal clinics.

Qualifications:

  • Active member in good standing of The Florida Bar.
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in marital and family law.
  • Familiarity with the Florida Family Law Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Experience working with survivors of violence and handling sensitive matters preferred.
