A well-established fashion retailer is seeking a Merchant to lead one of its key product categories. This is a direct hire opportunity based in Los Angeles with relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic merchant with strong vertical retail buying experience, a deep understanding of fashion trends, and proven success in driving product lifecycle decisions that meet and exceed financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute seasonal product strategies aligned with brand vision, trend direction, and customer expectations
• Own the product lifecycle—from initial buy to final markdown—with a strong focus on sales, margin, and inventory optimization
• Analyze sales and trend data to inform future assortments and pricing strategies
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Allocation, and Marketing teams
• Set target retails and manage costs to align with financial and margin goals
• Present regular business updates and sales recaps to senior leadership
• Contribute to visual merchandising and marketing initiatives to support product sell-through
• Conduct ongoing research into the plus-size market to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of vertical retail buying/merchandising experience in fashion
• Strong analytical skills and comfort using data to drive decisions
• Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred
