Job Description

This scientist will play a critical role in the design, execution, and analysis of in vitro and ex vivo assays aimed at characterizing ion channel modulators. The role requires deep hands-on experience with cell-based assay technologies, supporting ion channel-focused drug discovery programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine mammalian tissue culture (cell lines and neuronal cultures), including neuronal differentiation and maintenance of iPSC-derived neuronal models.
  • Harvest rodent tissues, dissect specific brain regions, and prepare samples for downstream applications.
  • Design and execute manual patch-clamp, automated patch-clamp (APC), and/or multi-electrode array (MEA) experiments to evaluate ion channel modulators in recombinant cell lines, primary neurons, and iPSC-derived neurons.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data in internal team meetings and contribute to technical reports and data packages.
  • Maintain meticulous lab records, adhere to SOPs and lab safety regulation guidelines, and ensure high data integrity and reproducibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physiology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in vitro pharmacology in academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Strong background in mammalian cell culture including primary and iPSC-derived neurons.
  • Experience with tissue harvesting, brain region dissection, and processing of neural tissue.
  • Experience in manual patch-clamp electrophysiology, automated patch-clamp electrophysiology (APC), multielectrode array (MEA), or ELISA techniques is strongly preferred.

Key Attributes:

  • Detail-oriented in experimental execution, with strong problem-solving skills and scientific curiosity.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
  • High personal integrity and self-motivation with a strong sense of accountability.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful ion channel drug discovery efforts in a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
