Job Description Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities that require an advanced level of knowledge in a scientific field. These roles are predominantly intellectual and varied in nature, necessitating consistent use of discretion and judgment. Performs skilled, administrative, and managerial support in research. Plans and directs certain phases in a research project. This is a grant funded position for one year and continuation of the position beyond one year is contingent upon continuation of funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Assists in the design, plan, and coordination of experiments in support of various research projects.
- Participates in field and greenhouse experiments.
- Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data.
- Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
- Evaluates and summarizes results.
- Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.
- Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment.
- Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities - Perform PCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid extraction, and other molecular biology techniques.
- Perform fungal isolations from field samples
- Evaluate the efficacy of products and beneficial microbes in suppressing citrus diseases in field conditions, and maintain plants in the greenhouse.
Minimum Requirements Education - Bachelor's degree in relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of - Knowledge of greenhouse and orchard management practices.
Knowledge of - Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
Skills in - Skill in lab and field experience in research projects related to plant sciences.
Ability to - Ability to effectively use a computer and applicable software to create databases, present data, and perform other computer-related tasks.
Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
