Our client, McCullough Creative, a creative design + build agency in Dubuque, Iowa, is seeking a Master Display Fabricator – a hands-on master maker with the mind of an engineer and the eye of a designer. This isn’t just a “follow the blueprints” kind of role. It’s about shaping the way they build one-of-a-kind exhibits, displays, and visitor experiences that wow people across the country. This is an onsite position in Dubuque, Iowa.

As Master Display Fabricator, you will:

• Design and build custom displays, exhibits, and scenic elements using MDF, plywood, acrylic, sculpted foam, and specialty materials and finishes.
• Translate design intent into smart, buildable shop drawings and CNC-ready files.
• Work hands on in the shop fabricating, assembling, testing, and installing.
• Collaborate with designers to engineer elegant, efficient, and shippable solutions.
• Lead regional installs and solve problems onsite (1-3 days 10-15 times/year).
• Mentor fabrication artists and help grow the next generation of shop talent.
• Maintain high craftsmanship standards while also meeting timelines and budgets and keeping installation logistics and long-term durability in mind.
• Collaborate with the accounts team and scheduler to ensure that projects flow through the shop in an efficient manner.
• Contribute to process improvement and departmental leadership.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of fabrication experience
• Associates degree or higher in fine arts, graphic arts, design engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency with CAD programs (SketchUp, VCarve, etc.)
• Skilled at reading and developing shop drawings, plans, and build files
• Experience working with a variety of materials and basic electronics
• Ability to see the big picture and the fine details
• Proven ability to manage and develop a team
