Mailroom Courier (full-time)

Closing Date: July 15, 2025

Salary Range: $19.00-$20.00 / hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

This is an “at-will” contractual hourly position .

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management, real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and law enforcement for State buildings. DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process.

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) is looking to hire two Mailroom Couriers within our Business Enterprise Administration Division.

Functions include:

  • Sorts and prepares mail for delivery to Baltimore, Annapolis, and Jessup areas within Maryland.
  • Updates and maintains courier mail delivery/pickup logs for the Baltimore, Annapolis, and Jessup areas.
  • Upon request, makes deliveries and pickups from outside State agencies.
  • Maintains up-to-date directory of State agencies and points of contact for mail courier routes.
  • Assists with processing USPS outgoing and incoming mail within DGS’ mailroom.
  • Performs special courier services upon request.
  • Enters, retrieves, and updates information using computer software applications.
  • Maintains vehicle mileage logs and routine maintenance records.
  • May operate leased postage equipment and mailroom tracking devices.
  • May order and receive inventory, and distribute office supplies and materials.
  • Performs other related mail and storeroom duties.

Required/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with driving experience is required (clean driving record is required).
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Customer service skills required.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., and ability to use hand carts, pallet jacks, and moving dollies required.
