The Club, located at Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara, is one of the most elite social clubs in the world. Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, the Houseman supports the overall cleanliness, setup, and functionality of the property. This role plays a key part in maintaining an organized, safe, and welcoming environment through efficient setup, breakdown, and general operational support across departments. Provides support for property needs including event setups, furniture movement, equipment handling, and general maintenance assistance as directed by management.

Essential Duties :

  • Approach all interaction with colleagues, Members, and guests in a courteous, service-oriented manner; attentive, friendly, helpful, and respectful to Members, guests, vendors and colleagues.
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, and resetting of events, meetings, and operational spaces across the property, following instructions, diagrams, or layouts as provided.
  • Load, unload, transport, move, and stage furniture, equipment, and supplies, including performing heavy lifting in support of the Maintenance Department.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, event spaces, and storage rooms before, during, and after use.
  • Support the Maintenance Department with general labor tasks, including equipment handling, furniture movement, and property setup projects.
  • Act as operational support for the Public Area Attendant and Locker Room Attendant as needed, assisting with coverage, setup, and cleanup tasks.
  • Identify and promptly report maintenance, safety, or equipment issues to management.
  • Demonstrate a service-oriented mindset and maintain a professional, helpful demeanor when interacting with Members, guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Report to work on time for scheduled shifts and meal and rest periods, properly clocked in and out, in full uniform and compliant with grooming standards.
  • Follow all Club and departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, and guidelines.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend memos, correspondence, special instructions, and company policies, including the Coral Casino Employee Handbook.
  • Strong customer service mindset with professionalism, attention to detail, and a polished appearance appropriate for a premier country club.
  • Friendly, punctual, proactive, and comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically, apply common sense, and adapt to meet internal and external guest needs.
  • Basic math skills and working knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment, machinery, and chemical handling.
  • Minimum of two years of maintenance or janitorial experience required; country club experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently up to eight hours, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crawl; crouch; bend; stretch; twist; reach; and push, pull, carry, and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and tolerate exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noise, fumes, hot and cold surfaces, airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals.
