The work will be challenging, but always rewarding. **It's Work That Matters.** **Overview** **Schedule** Day Shift **Purpose Statement/Position Summary** The Genetic Counselor I is responsible for providing clinical genetic counseling services to patients and families. The Genetic Counselor I works collaboratively with Geneticists and/or specialty providers to deliver comprehensive assessments and medical genetic counseling. **Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience** **_Required:_** + In-depth knowledge of the theories, principles, and ethical considerations of human genetics. + Understanding of clinical manifestations and the natural progression of a wide variety of genetic conditions, including rare genetic disorders. + Familiarity with diagnostic testing methodologies, including the indications, limitations, and applications of cytogenetics, biochemical genetics, and molecular genetics testing. + Strong analytical skills for interpreting genetic data and integrating it into patient care. **_Preferred:_** + Experience in pedigree analysis and conducting comprehensive risk assessments. + Knowledge and experience in genetic screening, testing, and counseling across various genetic conditions. + Ability to identify and coordinate genetic support resources for patients and families. + Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide genetic care and guidance. + Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. **Education/Licensure/Certifications** + Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited program. + Genetic Counselor License or Provisional Genetic Counselor License issued by the State of California. + Active Candidate Status for the ABGC Board Examination upon hire. + ABGC Certification must be obtained within two (2) exam cycles (typically within three (3) years) following employment, in compliance with ABGC guidelines. **Pay Scale Information** $64,688.00-$116,563.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
