Sous Chef – Michelin Quality, Creativity & Leadership

A renowned boutique inn and destination restaurant in the heart of Virginia’s countryside, is seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef to join their world-class culinary team. If you have Michelin-level standards, creativity, and the ambition to grow, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring excellence in food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Take charge of the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence, maintaining smooth operations and high standards.
  • Supervise, train, and inspire kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
  • Develop and execute seasonal menus and daily specials, emphasizing fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and cost control to maximize quality and profitability.
  • Uphold rigorous standards of kitchen safety, sanitation, and organization.
  • Collaborate on menu planning, recipe development, and plating to deliver memorable dining experiences.
  • Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant’s reputation for creativity and excellence, from prep to final presentation.
  • Mentor junior staff, providing training and guidance to elevate the entire team.
  • Support the inn’s mission of hospitality and guest satisfaction, contributing to special events and private dining experiences.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in fine dining or Michelin-starred kitchens.
  • Demonstrated creativity and technical skill across all kitchen stations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Passion for local, sustainable ingredients and French-inspired cuisine.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
