Engineering CAD I

Summary:

Perform those duties essential to the preparation of engineering drawings for details, assemblies, layouts, parts lists and perform calculations. Prepare and check the accuracy of drawings and bills of material in accordance with established engineering and drafting standards. Verify and check customer requirements. Consider manufacturing capabilities when designs, dimensions and tolerances are placed on the drawings. This position reports to the Design and Application Engineering Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

DRAFTING

1. Make necessary computer-aid drawings and bills of materials for production, costing purposes, prototypes and samples, checking for accuracy.

2. Correlate drawings and bills of material with production to ensure that all necessary parts, subassembly and assembly drawings are generated.

3. Make necessary drawings to correctly dimension parts and assemblies of existing and new products.

4. Maintain all drawings in the CAD format, re-drawing all old drawings.

CHECKING

1. Check drawings generated by other design/drafting personnel to ensure accuracy and correctness.

2. Check dimensional discrepancies between parts and/or assemblies and drawings to determine if drawings or parts are correct.

3. Conduct a review of customer specifications to ensure conformance with Morrison specifications.

PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS

1. Draw dimensioning, tolerancing, detailing and assist production in interpreting drawings when required.

2. Generate approved engineering change orders detailing the changes made on the attached drawings for release.

3. Issue and record assigned part numbers to ensure proper number assignment.

4. Complete drawing and documentation requirements.

5. Identify when information is not provided with the work request and contact the originator for clarification.

OTHER REQUIRMENTS

1. Maintain necessary drafting supplies and submit required requisitions for approval.

2. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:

No direct supervision.

Travel:

Local travel in the area may be required. Occasional overnight seminars, branch plants and customers may occur.

Confidentiality:

Handles design details and some manufacturing tooling and process details on a daily basis.

Experience Required:

Over 1 year of applicable computer aided drafting (CAD) work experience.

Education Required:

Associate's degree in a specialized or technical field.

Other:

Accuracy, mechanical ability, knowledge of Autocad, Solidworks.
