Job Title: Toolmaker – CNC Machinist

Location: Bethel, CT 6801

Contract Type: 3-Month Contract

Pay Rate: $40/hour

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Overview:

Belcan is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for a 3-month contract position in Bethel, CT . The successful candidate will support both the Manufacturing and Engineering departments by fabricating precision production and prototype components, tools, and fixtures. This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with strong machining experience, mechanical aptitude, and a background in toolmaking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manufacture complex tooling and fixtures in collaboration with Manufacturing and Design Engineering teams
• Create and validate CNC programs using Proto-Trak systems
• Set up and operate manual machining equipment such as mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and shears
• Operate CNC lathes and mills (2-axis) in both prototype and production environments
• Operate and maintain surface grinding machines
• Develop, fabricate, and sharpen cutting and specialty tools
• Perform inspections of GD&T features using basic and advanced measurement tools and techniques
• Conduct cut-open unit operations for production processes
• Assist shop leadership in training personnel on machining practices and internal procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required:

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Toolmaker or equivalent trade
• High mechanical aptitude and strong proficiency in trigonometry
• Solid understanding of chip formation and metal cutting mechanics
• Familiarity with ANSI/EIA RS-274 (‘G’ code NC programs)
• Working knowledge of computers and CAD systems
• Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Bethel, CT

Preferred:

• Associate Degree in a technical field
• Formal training or experience in design/drafting with CAD emphasis.
