As an Application Analyst at Daniel Defense, you play a critical role in supporting the stability, optimization, and evolution of key business applications across the organization. In this role, you will not only maintain and enhance software systems but also contribute to Daniel Defense’s broader effort of transformation and operational excellence. Through proactive lifecycle management, workflow automation, and cross-platform integrations, you will help modernize core business processes and unlock greater efficiency, visibility, and responsiveness across departments.

 

As a key member of the IT team, you will collaborate with end users, software and system engineers, and system vendors to ensure applications are reliable, secure, and aligned with evolving business needs. You will be empowered to identify areas for improvement, apply innovative workflow solutions, and support integration initiatives that streamline operations and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Provide daily application support for enterprise and departmental software systems, responding to incidents and user requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain application health and ensure operational continuity by performing regular system checks, patching, upgrades, and configuration updates.
  • Maintain and curate the software and license inventory database, ensuring accurate records, renewal tracking, and license compliance.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex Service Desk tickets related to application performance, configuration, and access issues.
  • Monitor and manage application performance, availability, and user experience, escalating issues as needed.
  • Assist with planning and execution of application lifecycle activities, including software upgrades, licensing, end-of-life transitions, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to implement data and system integrations using standardized APIs, scripts, or middleware.
  • Identify opportunities for automation or process improvement, and implement changes using workflow tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, SharePoint, or equivalent.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot application issues, apply updates, and validate fixes.
  • Participate in testing and validation of changes to ensure minimal disruption to business users.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for configuration, workflows, changes, and support procedures.
  • Provide training and support to end users, ensuring applications are utilized effectively and consistently.
  • Contribute to IT projects and cross-functional initiatives related to enterprise applications, digital transformation, and business system optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies, data governance standards, and audit requirements when handling application data and permissions.
  • Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Required

  • B.S. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience to effectively perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 2–4 years of experience in application support, business systems analysis, or IT operations.
  • Understanding of application lifecycle management, including versioning, upgrades, and vendor coordination.
  • Experience with workflow and automation platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint workflows, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with database concepts, APIs, and scripting (PowerShell, SQL, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret user needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Travel requirements: Up to 10% of the year; air travel may be necessary.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehousing, or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with ERP, CRM, MES, or other enterprise applications used in production and logistics.
  • Exposure to integration tools such as Workato and Power Automate.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or other service management frameworks.
  • Certification in relevant application platforms or workflow tools is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the work day.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
